It is with a very heavy heart that I write to inform members of the sudden passing of Brian Joyce.
I am advised Brian suffered a stroke in his home late yesterday and was unable to be revived. I know this news will come as a shock to all members, especially as he and Cass had just returned from a cruising holiday with other bowlers.
Brian was a great bloke who was full of energy and with a strong passion for bowls. He loved the horses and I would often ask him for a hot tip. I had the privilege of playing in the same team as Brian when our club won the No. 5 Pennant in 2014. I remember the season so well and it is almost two years to the day when we travelled up to Tamworth for the State Playoffs. It only seems like yesterday that Norm, Brian, Kevin and I were high-fiving each other at our win.
I think the thing I will remember most is his great sense of humour. And also that any head in a game of bowls could be fixed with a weighted shot.
I know I speak for the whole club when I say our thoughts are with Cass at this most difficult time. In the coming days and weeks ahead, I know that our bowling family will be there for her to offer any support and assistance she made need.
Brian's funeral will be held at the Church of Christ the King (Statham Avenue, North Rocks) on Tuesday 23rd August 2016 at 10.30am. It is a Christian Mass which is expected to be at least 1.5 hours.
